Scholarship Process:
Scholarship applications are open annually in September for the typical Fall-to-Spring college season.
  • All applicants must complete a written application, release form, and submit a short audition or portfolio demonstration.
  • Applicants’ submissions are due in January, then reviewed by our committees and Board.
  • Applicants receive email written communications from 3Arts through all points of the 3Arts process: application received, chosen/not chosen as a semi-finalist, chosen/not chosen as a scholarship recipient.
  • Scholarship monies' disbursements are made to college Bursars no later than March 31 annually, and monies communications to students are through their Bursar's Office.
  • From those all completed on-time submissions, semi-finalists are chosen, and judged by external experts in February-March to choose scholarship winners.
  • In past years, we have asked semi-finalists for additional audition materials and held in-person recitals and portfolio reviews for judges to choose winners. We have suspended in-person work for now due to Covid public health and safety, and time constraints.
  • In past years, Scholarships are typically awarded in the Spring at our Annual Winners Presentation Luncheon meeting*.

For 2022/23:
  • There are no in-person auditions or in-person competitions this season.
  • All auditions and portfolios are submitted media pieces only.
  • Initial submission material is used throughout the selection and judging processes. No additional pieces will be requested. Your initial submission packet should showcase your best work!
  •  Winners’ Awards Showcase & Luncheon: to be determined if we host this function in Spring 2023

Mrs. Devereux's Blue Book of Cincinnati Society 1919-20. Three Arts Club of Cincinnati on page 222 with Officers and Directors listed
Beginnings: By 1911, Cincinnati, Ohio had proven itself a center of cultural activity as its Conservatory of Music (1868), College of Music (1878), (both merged into Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 1955), May Festival (1873), Art Museum (1881), and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (1895) were well established and flourishing.  A small group of women felt that out-of-town female students needed to be able to find affordable housing in a nurturing atmosphere that offered guidance, counseling, and opportunities to apply for scholarships and loans.  This was modeled after The Three Arts Club of New York established in 1902.  The Cincinnati idea resulted in founding and incorporation of the Three Arts Club of Cincinnati on May 9, 1911.  As the project expanded, the Club rented a house on Auburn Street.  Later a house on Upland Place was purchased, and the final residence was located at 200 East McMillan Street.

More than 1,240 women lived in the Clubhouse. As alternative housing and dormitories became available, the assets of the Club were sold and invested in a trust in 1953, which was expanded by several other bequests to become the Three Arts Scholarship Fund, Inc.  Every year scholarships are awarded to junior and senior college women in the areas of Music, Musical Theater and Drama, and Visual Arts.

Past winners have included Kathleen Battle, Barbara Daniels, Petah Coyne, Sarah Voght, Chauntel McKensie, Anna Polusmiak Shelest, Denise Devlin, and Catherine Keen.
